Alcohol is no ordinary commodity but its presence and marketing seem ubiquitous. In this workshop, we will explore how policymakers, public health experts and researchers are responding to industry efforts to expand the presence and normality of alcohol in our lives. With inputs from leading international researchers and advocates we will explore alcohol marketing and availability in a digital age; industry manoeuvres, and potential countermeasures
This workshop is organised by the University of Stirling in conjunction with the UK Centre for Tobacco and Alcohol Studies (UKCTAS), a Public Health Research Centre of Excellence which includes 13 universities (www.ukctas.net).
The workshop is open to policy-makers, practitioners and researchers. There are two options for attending:

The workshop is provided without additional cost to participants of the renowned annual UKCTAS 4-day Alcohol Policy in Practice course which runs from September 18th to 21st 2017. The 4 day course also features inputs from several other leading alcohol researchers including: on minimum unit pricing (Dr. John Holmes, University of Sheffield); alcohol health update & policy overview (Sir Ian Gilmore, University of Liverpool & Alcohol Health Alliance); advocacy training (Katherine Brown, Institute of Alcohol Studies, Colin Shevills, Balance North East).
